Commercial Types

Capex Model

The Capex Model is a popular financing structure in which the end-user — whether an individual, business, or industrial entity — makes a one-time upfront investment to fully own the solar power system. Under this model, WSIPL designs, supplies, installs, and commissions the solar energy system, while the customer retains 100% ownership and reaps the full financial and environmental benefits of solar energy.

This model is ideal for customers with available capital who are looking for long-term savings, control over energy production, and maximum return on investment. Since the user owns the system outright, they also become eligible for various government incentives, tax benefits such as accelerated depreciation, and savings from reduced electricity bills for 25+ years.

The Capex Model offers the highest cost efficiency over the system’s lifetime. Once installed, the solar plant requires minimal maintenance, and WSIPL provides long-term support to ensure optimal performance. This model is best suited for businesses, industries, educational institutions, and residential users who want energy independence and wish to reduce operational costs over the long run.

Key Benefits:

  • Complete Ownership: You own the asset and enjoy long-term energy savings.

  • Government Subsidies & Tax Benefits: Avail of subsidies (if eligible) and tax advantages like accelerated depreciation.

  • Zero Monthly Payments: No recurring lease or rental payments—just long-term savings.

  • High ROI: One-time investment leads to 25+ years of consistent returns.

  • Energy Independence: Reduce your dependency on grid electricity and price fluctuations.

Opex Model

The Opex Model is a solar financing approach where the end-user does not invest in the capital cost of the solar plant. Instead, WSIPL or a third-party investor owns, operates, and maintains the solar power system on the customer’s premises or through a remote setup (like Open Access). The customer pays only for the electricity generated — typically at a rate lower than conventional grid electricity — under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), usually spanning 10 to 25 years.

This model is ideal for businesses, industries, and institutions that wish to benefit from solar energy without the burden of upfront capital investment, system ownership, or maintenance responsibilities. All technical, operational, and performance risks are handled by WSIPL or the investor, allowing the customer to focus purely on savings and sustainability.

Under the Opex Model, the customer enjoys predictable, lower-cost power and contributes to environmental goals without affecting their balance sheet. It’s a “pay-as-you-save” model that brings the benefits of clean energy with zero capital expense and complete peace of mind.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Zero Capital Investment: No upfront cost for equipment, installation, or setup.

  • Risk-Free Operations: WSIPL handles operations, maintenance, and system performance throughout the agreement.

  • Lower Power Tariff: Enjoy electricity at a discounted rate compared to grid tariffs.

  • Asset-Light Model: Since the plant is not owned by the customer, it doesn’t affect capital budgeting or balance sheet.

  • Hassle-Free Maintenance: All system servicing and upkeep are included, ensuring optimal performance at no extra cost.

  • Ideal for Large Consumers: Perfect for commercial and industrial users with high energy demands and space availability.

Best Suited For:
Large factories, commercial buildings, educational institutions, and corporates that want to switch to solar without investing capital or managing the system themselves.
